Camper's Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get to pick my activities?

Yes! Each afternoon you get to choose your activity from a variety of options, like learning to light a fire with one match or rejuvenating with some yoga time or playing Aussie-rules soccer. New adventures of your choosing are offered each day.

How long do campers come for?

It's different for different campers. Some will come for one week and then register for a second and third after they've tried it out. Some campers who have been to Tanadoona before and love it will register for all 11 weeks of summer!

Will I be the only new camper?

Not at all. There are a variety of campers each week--some who've been coming many years and lots of first-time campers as well.

How many kids and counselors are in each cabin?

Each cabin holds up to 8 campers and 2 staff members. The beds are bunk beds so you get to pick from the top or bottom bunk.

What are the cabins like?

The cabins have a total of 6 bunk beds with room for luggage and personal items. They have wrap-around screens with canvas that can be pulled up for privacy or left down for the breeze to blow through.

Are the counselors nice?

Our counselors are often the best part of camp for many campers. They really understand kids and know how create a fun experience for campers. They come from all over the world and have many exciting games and adventures to offer each camper.

My friend is coming to camp, can we be in the same cabin?

Yes, as long as you are the same gender and around the same age. When you register you can request a cabin mate.

Do you have a leadership program?

Yes! Our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is for campers ages 15-16. We also have a CIT 2 program for older campers who complete the first program and are ready to take on more responsibility. There is an application process for this two-week program. If you complete 2 years of the CIT you are eligible to apply to become a Junior Counselor on staff.
